Kara Kouloheras – Chief Operating Officer
As the daughter of Habitat Collier visionaries, Sam and MaryAnn Durso, Kara often jokes that she was born into Habitat for Humanity. She began volunteering with the organization as a teenager and has stayed involved since. After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a degree in communication she began a career in sales and event planning. Over and over again, she was drawn back to the mission of Habitat for Humanity.
Eventually Kara joined the staff at Habitat Collier and has spent more than 20 years in various fundraising and management roles and in March of 2025, Kara was named Chief Operating Officer. With both of her parents having long passed away, Kara considers it a profound honor to carry on their legacy at Habitat. She is unwavering in her commitment to providing affordable homeownership opportunities to hardworking families in need.
